How to running on a MacOS or a Over-Mac-Windows?

I’m using a MacOS Apple M2 Chip’s MacBook Air, and the system are following:

  1. MacOS Sonoma 14.6.1
  2. VMWare Fusion 13.6.0 running on MacOS
  3. In VMWare Fusion installed Windows 11 ARM version

And if I plug the receiver and cable, in Windows settings can see the “Haply USB Transceiver” Hardware.

Then I running the Demo-bundle, here’s what I got:

  1. If I unplug the receiver and the Haply’s USB to USBC cable, I can run the demo, like the Chai3D\win-x64\01-GEL-membrane, it can appear the gel. And the console window get THIS:

VerseGrip Count: 0
Handle Count: 0
Inverse Count: 0

  1. If I plug the receiver and the cable on, and use the pen to calibrate, the Inverse3’s light always be red.

So, the problem is: Could I run it perfectly on a over-mac-win11?

Or, could I run the demo just on MacOS directly?

Hi Elise,

Thanks for the detailled post.
Our team will investigate and come back very quickly. At first glance it could be either the virtualisation layer or some interaction with Windows ARM version.

As you are able to run and see the gel it should be something that can be fixed, and our team were already working on porting the demo directly on MacOS ! We will release this soon.

Best regards,

Antoine

I’m pretty sure the problem is on the device “Haply USB Transceiver”.

if I don’t plug that device, then the program will run and I can see the 3D gel graphic UI there; and when I plug the device and run the program again, then the program just quickly flash a screen and then all quit.

Please do help me, I don’t want to carry Mac&Win 2 laptops going around.

Hi Elise,

Yes we are currently investigating the issue, the API was not tested on Windows ARM yet but our team is diligently working on testing, we also have a macOS port that we are testing internally before release, my colleague @martin.turcotte will be able to provide more insight on the expected release date for this.
If there is no device plugged, there is no call to the API and chai3D runs a simulation without a device.
Best regards,
Antoine

Hi Elise,

I wanted to update you on the progress of unblocking the Chai3D examples for OSX. I’ve made significant headway in building them for the newer M2 chips and am currently addressing a few final issues, including packaging and some visual artifacts (such as incorrect window sizing).

I’ll keep you informed and aim to have everything ready by early this week.

Best regards,
Martin

Really exciting to hear that, and can’t wait for that!

Thanks!
